Other states: EPA keeps a list of state drinking-water lab certification officers, and your county health department can name local labs.

How we build listings

We list only businesses that appear on a current public licence or authorization list kept by a state agency, and we show the licence number so you can check it yourself. We never add reviews, ratings or claims the state did not publish. Any business can ask us to remove or correct its listing.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know a septic company is licensed?

Ask for its state licence or authorization number and check it on the state's own lookup. Each listing here shows the number and links to the state list we took it from.

How often should a septic tank be pumped?

EPA says household tanks are typically pumped every three to five years and inspected at least every three years. Our pumping calculator gives a rough interval for your tank and household.

Do businesses pay to be listed?

No. Every listing is free. Businesses can pay for a featured spot at the top of their county pages, and featured spots are always labelled.
